Giant Eagle has opened its newest GetGo Cafe + Market location in central Indiana. The Pittsburgh-based grocery chain says the Speedway location, its sixth in the region, brings total investment in the Indianapolis area to more than $65 million.
Dan Donovan with GetGo calls the demand in and around Indianapolis "as strong as in any other GetGo market in recent history." The location offers made-to-order food including subs, salads, burgers and breakfast sandwiches.
The chain opened its first Giant Eagle store in Indiana in 2015. The Carmel location has hired more than 600 workers. The company also has two GetGo locations in Carmel, two in Indianapolis and one in Plainfield.
As part of its grand opening celebration, GetGo says it will donate $1 of each sub purchased at all area stores through Sunday to Gleaners Food Bank, up to $10,000.
