One bill, which is scheduled for a House conference committee this morning, involves transferring up to $200 million in funding from a Major Moves 2020 trust fund. Two measures designed to remove what some legislators call a hurdle for economic development are still being hotly debated in the General Assembly.
House Bill 1001 and Senate Bill 1 both concern the business personal property tax, which Governor Pence has been pushing to cut. Several Mayors have suggested removing the tax would hurt local governments that would have a difficult time making up that revenue.
Legislation dealing with a state-funded pre-kindergarten program includes language to create a summer study committee to further examine the issue.

A bill that would set up a referendum on funding mass transit in multiple central Indiana counties will be heard in conference committee this week after it was approved last week in the House.
