Fort Wayne Loses Pro Golf Event

Our partners at 21Alive WPTA in Fort Wayne report organizers of the PGA Web.com Tour’s Hotel Fitness Championship have decided to re-brand the event and move it to a course in Cleveland. The event’s three-year contract with the Sycamore Hills Golf Club ended this year.
The Hotel Fitness Championship was a collaboration among Sycamore Hills, the Western Golf Association and the Web.com Tour, which is a developmental organization that serves as a feeder program for the PGA.
The event previously opened the tour schedule. Next year, the event previously held in Fort Wayne will be called the DAP Championship and will be affiliated with the LeBron James Family Foundation. It will be hosted by the Canterbury Golf Club in Cleveland.
Tournament Director Chris Montagano tells 21Alive WPTA the event was unable to secure necessary business commitments to keep it in Fort Wayne.
In an interview with 21Alive, Sycamore Hills Golf Club General Manager Eric Schneider says the club will continue efforts to land championship events. It has hosted events of this caliber each year since 2009.
