Federal Funds Boost Opioid, Heroin Fight in Indiana

Four health centers in Indiana will share more than $1.5 million in federal funding to fight heroin and prescription opioid abuse. The support from the Health Resources and Services Administration is part of a $94 million national program.
The funding will boost delivery and services for treatment of opioid use among underserved populations. U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says more patients will be able to be screened for substance use disorders and be connected with treatment. It will also bolster training and educational resources for health professionals.
The Indiana recipients are:
Maple City Health Center Inc. in Goshen ($406,250)
Meridian Services Corp. in Muncie ($325,000)
