Evansville Schedules ‘Major’ Business Announcement

The mayor's announcement is scheduled for Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. CT at the Civic Center Complex in Evansville.

The city of Evansville says officials are set Tuesday to announce a new business development in the city. Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will hold a morning news conference for what his office says will create a "major, long-term economic impact."

Winnecke’s office says the development will "help transform the downtown area into more of a destination for entertainment and cultural history."

Last month, the city broke ground on the $70 million multi-institutional Medical School campus, led by Indiana University, and the $61 million convention hotel. Both projects are part of major downtown revitalization efforts.
