Electric Outage Costs South Bend Millions

Downtown South Bend Inc. is calling a recent power outage “disruptive and devastating” to the city. The organization estimates the interruption had a $3 million negative economic impact on businesses. In a memo to the city, businesses, the power company and local media, the organization says more than $125,000 was also spent by local employers to keep further damage from occurring.

It estimates the affects could have been double without the support of donated equipment.
