Daniels to Talk College Funding Alternatives in D.C.

Purdue University President Mitch Daniels will be part of a group testifying Wednesday on Capitol Hill. The Joint Economic Committee, which is chaired by Senator Dan Coats (R-IN), will discuss funding alternatives for higher education.
Daniels will be joined on the panel by Andrew Kelly from the American Enterprise Institute and Rohit Chopra from the Center for American Progress.
Daniels has made college affordability a signature piece of his administration’s agenda. In August, the university approved its fourth-straight year of a tuition freeze. The university has also rolled out multiple bachelor’s degree programs that can be completed in three years. Last month, the Purdue Research Foundation announced it was seeking requests for proposal for partners to run a program for income share agreements. Daniels discussed the ISA concept, which would allow students to receive funding from an investment pool and pay the money back after college via a prearranged percentage of their income, during a Congressional hearing in March.
