Daniels Dubbed Influential ‘Dealmaker’

The president of Purdue University is part of a small group of leaders a key national publication says had an outsized impact on higher education in 2017. Mitch Daniels is named with eight others on the The Chronicle of High Education‘s 2017 Influence List.
The publication says the list’s goal was to spotlight "the less obvious players" that affected key higher education issues like federal policy, campus culture and the national conversation on education.
Daniels received the title of "Dealmaker" in the article and the author details work championed by the former Indiana governor including:
- partnering with Gallup on an index measuring college outcomes
- taking a nation-leading role in implementing income-sharing agreements for students
- acquiring for-profit online college Kaplan University, which is expected to be complete early next year
The others on the list include: Jalane Schmidt, Jessica Sandberg, Raj Chetty, Candice Jackson, Elizabeth Kiss, Sterling Beard, the law firm of Bond, Schoeneck & King and Timothy Piazza. You can connect to the full story by clicking here.
