Thursday, April 6, 2017 12:27 PM EDT Updated: Thursday, April 6, 2017 02:09 PM EDT
Cummins Continues to Invest in Seymour Cummins' presence in Seymour includes the major Technical Center that opened in 2015.

The Seymour Common Council has approved a 10-year tax abatement for a nearly $2.3 million investment by Columbus-based Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI). The company also recently updated investment and employment figures related to a large-scale expansion that launched in 2010.

The Tribune reports the project, which involves equipment and improvements at its technical center as well as new assembly, painting and production equipment, could begin in May and be complete by the end of the year.

Since 2010, Cummins says expansion in Seymour, including production of the so-called Hedgehog engine, has involved investments totaling $280 million and created nearly 700 jobs.
