Commission OKs Mishawaka River Walk Project

A $13.6 million apartment project along the St. Joseph River is moving forward. The Mishawaka Redevelopment Commission has approved the development agreement for the 63-unit River Walk project, which could break ground next year.

South Bend-based River Walk Development LLC is expected to request tax abatement, which could head to the council for a final vote in December.

The project is the next in a string of multi-million dollar developments planned along the riverfront and Beutter Park, including the $40 million Iron Works Plaza project that was pitched as part of the $703 million North Central Regional Cities Initiative process.

The River Walk development could be complete in 2018.
