News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — CSz Worldwide announces that it has accepted a bid from Indiana's premier improv theater, CSz Indianapolis, to host the ComedySportz World Championship in Indianapolis, IN in the Summer of 2016. The matter was decided recently after lively debate at CSz Worldwide's Annual Shareholders' Meeting, in Richmond, VA.

“CSz Worldwide is proud of ComedySportz's over 30 year legacy of being 'comedy for everyone,'” said Matt Elwell, the organization's new Executive Director. “Up until now, we've never considered that a controversial stance. Our values were put to the test over the last several days, however, while Indiana's legislature and governor passed and then amended SB101. We wanted to do what was best for our organization, our CSz Indianapolis partner, the people of Indiana, and our ComedySportz Players — several of whom are LGBT. We are relieved by the recent clarification of the law, but also want to make the following clear. We stand resolutely in support of the many Open for Service businesses throughout Indiana who opened their doors to all people without the need of legal compulsion. They are who we are coming to do business with. Therefore, we are inviting our performers and staff to share their support of pro-inclusion businesses with #CSz4Every1.”

CSz Indianapolis, Indiana's local providers of ComedySportz, are excited to host again after their very successful ComedySportz World Championship in 2011 at the Athenaeum Theater. Mia Lee Roberts, one of CSz Indianapolis' owners said, “We are proud to be Open for Service and look forward to again sharing Hoosier Hospitality with all the visiting players. We will be sharing more details as to exact dates and information about the event in the following months!”

CSz Worldwide is the global licensor and trade association for ComedySportz, America's Favorite Comedy Competition since 1987. In addition to its theater offerings, CSz Worldwide works with its CSz partners to deliver corporate entertainment, learning and development, and events marketing solutions globally – all using the creative and transformative power of improvisation.
