Thursday, October 1, 2015 01:35 PM EDT Updated: Thursday, October 1, 2015 03:32 PM EDT
Cities And Towns Association Names Board Leaders Mayor Greg Goodnight will attend Monday's announcement.

The Indiana Association of Cities and Towns has elected a new president and officers for 2016. Kokomo Mayor Greg Goodnight will lead the organization, succeeding Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett.

Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke will be 1st vice president and Nashville Clerk-Treasurer Brenda Young will serve as 2nd vice president.

The nearly 125 year-old organization represents 470 city and town members.

Goodnight, in his second term in Kokomo, has been with the IACT board of directors since 2009 and says "Indiana’s cities and towns are where innovative solutions are put into action, and they are the engine for Indiana’s economy. When Indiana’s cities and towns are strong, our counties prosper and our state grows. IACT represents Indiana’s network of vibrant cities and towns, and I am honored to be elected the organization’s president."

The trio will take over January 1.

IACT Chief Executive Officer Matthew Greller says "I am very optimistic about the year ahead. The local leaders of Indiana’s cities and towns will benefit greatly from the enthusiasm, proficiency and drive of Mayor Goodnight. He is a steadfast advocate for giving municipalities the tools necessary to create quality places that attract jobs and the talent to go along with them."

Editor’s Note: A previous version of this story erroneously referred to Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett as Duke Snyder.

The shock factor lies in the magnitude of this issue – the magnitude of despair, isolation, and uncertainty that thousands of our city's youth grapple with daily....
