CEO Updates $2.8B Fertilizer Project

The chief executive officer of Midwest Fertilizer Co. LLC has updated the progress of the "world-scale" nitrogen fertilizer plant in Posey County. In an interview posted by the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana, Les Wright says final financial and construction considerations remaining for the project are on pace to be complete in the second quarter of next year.
He says the company is "putting the final touches" on its construction contract and is continuing to coordinate the remaining financing details. Wright also reaffirmed previous figures for the massive effort: a $2.8 billion investment, about 2,500 construction jobs and nearly 190 permanent positions. He says the anticipated scale of production volume at the 220-acre property has not changed.
Wright says local support for the project has been "critical" throughout the process and "instrumental in getting us where we’re at today."
