Five years after it launched, the director of the National Sports Journalism Center at IUPUI says he is working to prepare students for the “minute-by-minute exercise” that sports reporting has become. Malcom Moran says part of the process is taking students to cover live sporting events, including the Rose Bowl. He discussed the center on a recent edition of Inside INdiana Business Television. Indiana University's School of Journalism launched the center in 2009. The school says it is the first to offer a master's degree program in sports journalism.

The center is an official partner of the Associated Press Sports Editors and the National Sportscasters and Sportswriters Assoication.

Moran's previous experience includes working as a sportswriter at USA Today, Newsday, The New York Times and the Chicago Tribune.
