The City of Carmel is set to hold a news conference Thursday focusing on the impact of U.S. 31 construction on area businesses. Mayor Jim Brainard, Chamber President Mo Merhoff and Indiana Department of Transportation Deputy Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson will detail a new city-wide campaign addressing the issue. Construction is set to wrap up in November.

In recent weeks, local police have stepped up patrols of some roads near U.S. 31, especially roundabouts.

Unauthorized vehicles too large to navigate some roads have been trying to avoid established detours.
