Butler University officials will break ground this afternoon on a $20 million mixed-use parking facility. The school says it will include space for businesses and restaurants to serve students and the surrounding neighborhood. The garage will help ease some campus parking concerns for student and faculty, as well as visitors at events at Hinkle Fieldhouse, Clowes Memorial Hall, the Howard L. Schrott Center for the Arts and the Butler Bowl.

The facility received the approval of trustees in July along with plans for a new, 600-bed student housing complex.

Butler is currently receiving improvements in several campus areas including a streetscape project at one of its main gateways and major upgrades to Hinkle Fieldhouse.
