Business Park Adds Key Certification

Airport Business Center North in Fort Wayne has received the AEP Quality Site Certification from Indiana Michigan Power. The designation aims to boost business attraction and economic development efforts at the 137-acre property.
The process involves third-party certification from McCallum Sweeney Consulting. The firm says the center meets all shovel-ready requirements through its evaluations, which examined engineering plans, environmental studies and site characteristics.
Economic and Business Development Manager Ashley Savieo says "I&M is proud to be a strong partner to the communities we serve as the hometown energy company. AEP’s Quality Sites Program is designed to simplify the complex process businesses face in investing in a new location. The McCallum Sweeney site certification raises the profile of the Airport Business Center and is crucial to attract jobs and investment to our region."
The property has tenants including BAE Systems, Tuthill and Coca-Cola and is located near the Fort Wayne International Airport and I-69.
Greater Fort Wayne Inc. Executive Vice President of Economic Development John Urbahns says "this certification will have a significant positive impact on our business attraction and expansion efforts. When companies can come in and get up and running as quickly as possible, Fort Wayne and Allen County become that much more attractive as a potential site."
I&M employs 2,450 and serves nearly 600,000 customers.
