‘Build 4 Evansville’ Focuses on Quality of Life

The mayor of Evansville has launched an initiative designed to push several major stalled projects. "Build 4 Evansville" will focus on locking in support, funding and public-private partnerships for renovating Mesker Amphitheater, a planned penguin exhibit at Mesker Park Zoo, building Roberts Park and a replacement for the city’s only indoor pool, Lloyd Pool.

During a news conference Wednesday, Winnecke stressed the ensuing public meetings and feedback represents the planning stages and that city funding or other private contributions related to Build 4 Evansville has not yet been pledged. He says it is important to lay the ground work now, so when funding is lined up, plans will be at hand. Winnecke is targeting sometime in 2018 for funding to be in place and plans to be "ready to execute."
