Organizers of Abbey Road on the River have announced a three-year partnership with the city.
The festival will take place on the RiverStage floating performance venue on the banks of the Ohio River in downtown Jeffersonville. Event leaders say the move gives the event an improved and modern location while allowing it to stay in the Louisville region. In addition to the main outdoor stages, festival bands will perform in area restaurants and bars throughout the five-day event.
Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore says the announcement shows that it’s "an exciting time to be in Jeffersonville," adding the event will "provide a huge economic boost for our restaurants, hotels, retailers, attractions and tourism industry." The Clarion Inn and Sheraton Riverside Hotel will serve as headquarter hotels for the festival.
This year’s festival will mark the 12th to be hosted by Louisville. The 2017 Abbey Road on the River festival is set for May 25-29.
