Ball State Trustees OK Next Budget

The Ball State University Board of Trustees has adopted a 2016-2017 budget. Officials say more than $1 million will go toward launching the new College of Health.
At its regular meeting, trustees also approved a $1 million increase in student financial aid and $2.4 million more for faculty and staff salaries.
Treasurer Bernard Hannon says "we remain grateful to the Indiana legislature for providing a $2.2 million increase to Ball State, which shows tremendous support for our mission and performance. Using this modest increase in revenues and adding $15 million in reallocations resulting from careful stewardship, we are able to fund strategic priorities such as the new college, faculty and staff salaries, and scholarship support for students."
Other approvals include changes to the employee sick leave policy allowing more days to to care for an ill family member or to help during the adoption or foster placement process. Also in effect: the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services is now called the Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology and Counseling. The Department of Physiology and Health Science has been changed to the Department of Nutrition and Health Science.
