A new bakery is seeking preliminary tax abatement approval on a nearly $80 million project in Indianapolis. Specialty Bakery LLC says the proposal would create more than 240 jobs by 2018. The Indianapolis Metropolitan Development Commission will consider the preliminary request this week. The commission has scheduled a preliminary vote for Wednesday, November 6. The project could receive final approval November 20.

Specialty Bakery will make frozen bread, dough and cookies for sale to quick service restaurants, bakeries and other distributors. The Department of Metropolitan Development says the company has landed a 15-year contract with a restaurant, which has made the proposed plant necessary.
