AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) is looking to add more than 40 call center and retail workers in Evansville. The company made a similar announcement in April and says it has hired close to 90 in the area since the start of the year. July 22, 2014

News Release

EVANSVILLE, Ind. – AT&T today announced that it will hire workers for more than 40 jobs in Evansville. The positions to be filled are local call center and retail jobs.

The announcement of these available positions continues a positive trend for AT&T in this part of the state. Between January and June of this year, the company has hired nearly 90 people in Evansville for technician, call center and retail openings. Statewide, the communications company has hired more than 340 employees since the beginning of the year.

AT&T has invested nearly $1.75 billion in its Indiana wireless and wireline networks between 2011 and 2013, including more than $325 million during the first half of 2013 alone. The network investment is part of AT&T's Project Velocity IP (VIP), a three-year investment plan announced in fall 2012 to expand and enhance its IP broadband networks.

“It's great to see that AT&T continues to invest in our community, which has led to employment opportunities for our citizens,” said State Rep. Wendy McNamara.

“We appreciate AT&T's commitment to Evansville,” said Evansville Mayor Lloyd Winnecke. “Not only is the company ensuring that our businesses and consumers remain competitive through network enhancements, they’ve consistently been hiring here since the beginning of 2014.”

AT&T jobs are among the best in the world and include competitive wages and benefits. AT&T currently employs more than 4,800 people throughout Indiana and consistently hires new talent. AT&T is regularly recognized for training and development programs that are among the best in the country, and invested about $280 million training employees and about $26.6 million in tuition aid during 2013. AT&T is committed to and has been recognized for diversity and veteran recruiting.

“AT&T continues to expand its customer base in Indiana and invest in our network to ensure we are providing the high level of service our customers have come to expect from the nation’s most reliable 4G LTE network,” said Bill Soards, president of AT&T Indiana. “As part of our commitment to this level of customer service and to support our growth in Indiana, we are pleased to have the opportunity to welcome more than 40 employees to the AT&T team in Evansville.”
