Indianapolis-based Anthem Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) has named Bonnie Jacobs senior vice president of corporate communications. She previously served as chief communications officer at Allergan Inc. (NYSE:AGN). April 8, 2015

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Anthem, Inc. (NYSE: ANTM) announced today that Bonnie Jacobs will join the company as senior vice president of corporate communications.

A seasoned communications professional, Jacobs will lead all aspects of executive communications, internal communications and public relations. She will play an integral role as Anthem transitions to a more consumer focused brand. Jacobs will also lead efforts to maintain the company’s strong reputation among critical stakeholders and influencers.

Jacobs will join Anthem from Allergan, a global Fortune 500 multi-specialty healthcare company, where she has served as vice president, Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, and Chief Communications Officer. At Allergan, Jacobs' responsibilities included corporate affairs, public relations, brand and non-traditional marketing communications, internal communications and patient advocacy relations. Prior to joining Allergan, Jacobs served as a vice president, Communications, for the Johnson & Johnson Group of Consumer Companies. She has also held senior communications roles at Bristol-Myers Squibb, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and several national public relations agencies. Jacobs is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania.

She will be responsible for developing and implementing our communications strategy, during a pivotal time for our organization, as we transition to become a more consumer focused company,” said Jose Tomas, executive vice president and Chief Human Resources Officer for Anthem, Inc.

Jacobs will be based at Anthem’s corporate headquarters in Indianapolis, IN.
