Andy Paine Dies

A well-known Hoosier banking executive and community leader has died. Andy Paine worked 37 years in the banking industry, serving in positions including president and chief operating officer of Indiana National Bank and chief executive officer of NBD Bank NA. Paine was 80.
The DePauw University and Indiana University graduate served on multiple boards of directors, including DePauw, AmerUs Group, Indianapolis Life Insurance Co., Bankers Life of New York, Indianapolis Power & Light Co., IPALCO Enterprises and Indiana National Corp.
An arts supporter, Paine helped establish and lead The International Violin Competition of Indianapolis and chairman of the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields board. He was also a three-time Sagamore of the Wabash recipient.
