St. Vincent Anderson Regional has completed a $26 million surgery pavilion in Madison County. The facility is set to open next month and will house about 11,000 surgeries each year.

December 18, 2014

News Release

Anderson, Ind. — Today, St.Vincent Anderson Regional officials have announced the completion of the newly built, 45,000-square-foot Surgery Pavilion opening January 5, 2015. The new pavilion, adjacent to the Emergency Department, will perform approximately 11,000 surgeries per year.

The new Surgery Pavilion at St.Vincent Anderson Regional, a member of Ascension, the nation's largest Catholic and not-for-profit health system, is now the most advanced surgical facility in East Central Indiana. The state-of-the-art facility offers exceptional technology upgrades, enhancing the capabilities of the highly-skilled physicians and associates that currently serve Madison County through St.Vincent Anderson Regional.

In the eight new operating rooms a variety of surgeries will continue to be offered, including general surgery, orthopedic total joint replacement, minimally invasive gynecological procedures, eye surgery and ear, nose and throat.

“The Surgery Pavilion design is a model for surgical facilities of the future,” said Tom VanOsdol, president of St. Vincent Anderson Regional. “It has many special features to make surgery safer, to assist physicians and staff in providing the optimal surgical techniques more efficiently, and to provide the most comfortable and compassionate experience and healing environment for every patient. Our new surgery suites are much larger than previous operating rooms at our hospital and they provide the space to accommodate today’s most sophisticated technologies.”

All patients will be registered privately at the bedside. The 23 patient care areas are separated by walls to ensure privacy as patients prepare for surgery, and meet their surgeon and anesthesiologist. Technology and supplies will be stationed at the patient’s bedside, which will allow caregivers to spend more time with each individual patient.

St.Vincent Anderson Regional is an acute-care facility with a comprehensive, integrated health system that includes many noted services. Those areas offered include: cancer care, women’s services, behavioral health, cardiology, rehabilitation services, surgical/medical services and home health.
