AM General Awarded $7M Defense Dept. Contract

South Bend-based AM General LLC has been awarded a $7 million military contract. The U.S. Department of Defense says the contract calls for the manufacture of diesel cylinder heads.

The northern Indiana manufacturer produces the military High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle, or more commonly known as the HUMVEE, at its plant in Mishawaka.

The DoD said the vehicle parts are earmarked for the U.S. Army.

The contracting activity is the Defense Logistics Agency Land and Maritime, Warren, Michigan.
