AAA Anticipates Busier Holiday For Hoosier Travelers

New projections suggest more Hoosiers will hit the roads and take to the skies this Thanksgiving than last year. AAA Hoosier Motor Club expects nearly 1.09 million Indiana travelers, compared to almost 1.07 million for Thanksgiving 2015.
The vast majority will drive, but AAA says 2.3 percent more Hoosiers will travel by air than last year. The organization says factors such as an improved economy, plus rising wages, consumer spending and consumer confidence are pushing more to get out. Nationally, AAA anticipates gas prices to be the second-cheapest they have been during the holiday since 2008. The price at the pump for regular unleaded currently averages under $1.95, compared to more than $2.04 a year ago.
AAA says the most popular destinations nationally are:
- Las Vegas
- San Francisco
- San Diego
- Orlando
- New York
- New Orleans
- Anaheim
- Fort Lauderdale
- Philadelphia
- Seattle
