The Merrillville-based Dean and Barbara White Family Foundation Inc. has donated $16 million to the Southlake Family YMCA in Crown Point. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report plans call for Franciscan St. Anthony Health Crown Point hospital medical offices and an indoor natatorium. Other improvements include educational facilities, outdoor pool facilities, indoor running track and more childcare space.

Officials say they are unsure at this time when construction could begin.

The more than 15-year-old Y serves approximately 8,300 members.
