National Mascot Hall of Fame Taking Votes

The first round of voting for the 2020 National Mascot Hall of Fame nominees is underway. The Whiting museum's executive committee announced 19 finalists and began taking votes Sunday for the first round, which runs through October 12.

The finalists are:

  • Bernie Brewer - Milwaukee Brewers
  • Billy the Marlin - Miami Marlins
  • Blue - Indianapolis Colts
  • Boomer - Indiana Pacers
  • Cocky - University of South Carolina
  • Cosmo the Cougar - Brigham Young University
  • Globie - Harlem Globetrotters
  • Jaxson de Ville - Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Lou Seal - San Francisco Giants
  • Oriole Bird - Baltimore Orioles
  • S.J. Sharkie - San Jose Sharks
  • Sebastian the Ibis - University of Miami
  • Slugger - Portland Sea Dogs
  • T.C. Bear - Minnesota Twins 
  • The Hawk - Saint Joseph’s University
  • The Swinging Friar - San Diego Padres
  • Thunder the Dog - Lake Elsinore Storm
  • Wally the Green Monster - Boston Red Sox
  • Youppi! - Canadiens de Montreal

Voters can choose up to seven mascots for the final vote. Click here to cast your votes. Final ballot voting takes place October 20-28.

      Red Bull to Discontinue Air Race World Championship

      The Red Bull Air Race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, originally scheduled for October, has been canceled as a result of Red Bull's decision to discontinue the Air Race World Championship following the 2019 season. The company says the races scheduled between June and September in Russia, Hungary and Japan will run as planned. 

    • Central Indiana Red Cross Names Executive Director

      The American Red Cross has named Britt Sutton the new executive director for its Central Indiana Chapter. Sutton previously served as the director of policy for the Indiana Bureau of Developmental Disabilities Services, specializing in administrative law and policy composition for the Indiana Medicaid Home and Community Based Services Waiver programs.

That means that if you see an RV rolling down the road anywhere in the world, chances are that it was built with the craftsmanship and dedication of Hoosiers.

    • New Owner Combines AIT Labs, Texas Company

      Indianapolis-based AIT Laboratories Inc. has merged with an out-of-state company. The combined business, called AIT Laboratories, a HealthTrackRx company, will be headquartered in Texas. HealthTrackRx currently operates a toxicology lab in Denton, which is outside of Dallas. Ancor Capital Partners is the private equity firm that owns the company. It says AIT's GuideMed narcotics prescription clinical support program will be based in Indianapolis.
