Evansville-based George Koch Sons LLC has been awarded an $8 million defense contract for the design, fabrication, supply, and installation of a metal finishing process system. The Department of Defense says the work will be performed in Evansville, with an estimated completion date of September 2020.

According to the DOD, the U.S. Army Contracting Command, Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois, is the contracting activity.

Meanwhile, DOD says Florida-based Jacobs Technology Inc. was awarded a $93 million contract for in-air and underwater launch testing/capability for a new weapons system. Much of the design work and initial underwater testing occurred at Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane.

Also, Northrop Grumman Systems Corp. of Melbourne, Florida was awarded a $1.3 billion contract to build nine E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft for the Japanese military.  The DOD says work will be performed throughout the country, including a small percentage (4.76 percent) in Indianapolis. But the news release from the Department of Defense does not specify which Indy company is handling the work or what part.

The Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity.
