Amazon to Fill 1,000+ Jobs in Greenwood
Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN) is looking to fill more than 1,000 jobs in Greenwood. The online retailer has begun hiring for the positions as it prepares to open its $80 million receive center in the Johnson County city. The new jobs will be focused on Amazon’s customer fulfillment operations, including receiving, picking and shipping and supporting network logistics.
Plans for the 615,000-square-foot facility were first announced in October. At the time, the company said the project would create more than 1,250 jobs. The facility is scheduled to open in September.
Amazon says it offers a $15 per hour minimum wage and full-time employees are offered benefits including comprehensive healthcare, 401(k) with a 50% match and up to 20 weeks paid parental leave, in addition to the company’s Career Choice program, which pre-pays 95% of tuition for courses in high-demand fields.
Interested candidates must be at least 18-years-old and have a high school diploma or equivalent. Veterans and military spouses are being encouraged to apply. You can find more information on the jobs and how to apply by clicking here.
The Greenwood receive center is being built on a site that was originally slated to be the home of a $259 million distribution center for FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) before the company nixed those plans.
