Marian University in Indianapolis has hired the inaugural director of the Walker Center for Applied Ethics. Elizabeth Coit will oversee all of the Walker Center’s operations, while collaborating with the board and faculty, as well business leaders and stakeholders to implement a long term strategy.

The Walker Center was created in November 2018 to improve and evolve the interdisciplinary teaching of ethics, with a focus on research and certificate programs for ethics professionals. Coit comes to Marian from Morning Dove Therapeutic Riding Inc. where she serves as executive director, lead instructor and program director. She previously was executive director of Indiana State University’s Networks Financial Institute and president of Conseco Insurance Group.

“The opportunity to join Marian University and the Walker Center for Applied Ethics is energizing,” Coit said. “It’s akin to launching a start-up, but with the backing of an established, trusted brand. We have a real opportunity to make a difference in the business community, and expand Marian’s brand regionally and nationally.

Coit will begin her new role on October 1.
