BWI to Open Greenfield Plant
Governor Eric Holcomb and Greenfield Mayor Chuck Fewell will Friday join executives from BeijingWest Industries Co. Ltd. to celebrate the grand opening of the company’s $80 million, 275,000-square-foot manufacturing facility. The project is expected to create up to 441 jobs by 2021.
Holcomb and Fewell were among the officials who broke ground on the project more than two years ago. The plant is the China-based company’s production facility in the U.S.
The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says BWI is on pace to hire 195 people for the facility by the end of the year. BWI designs and manufactures brake and suspension systems for the automotive market and, when the project was first announced, the company said it expects to increase production by four million parts per year to meet demand.
The grand opening ceremony is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
