West Fork Whiskey Co. in Indianapolis won titles from the New York International Spirits Competition and the American Craft Spirits Associated for its Old Hamer Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
West Fork "resurrected" the whiskey in April, and it was originally created in 1825.
The New York International Spirits Competition rated Old Hamer Cask Strength 92 points while the American Craft Spirits Associated awarded the Cask Strength a Silver Medal and the 80 Proof version a Bronze Medal.
Hotel Tango Whiskey won a silver medal at the competition and the Hotel Tango Artisan Distillery was named Indiana Distillery of the year.
Old Hamer was recognized at the New York International Spirits Competition from more than 600 entries from 29 countries.
The Heartland Whiskey Competition hosted by the American Craft Spirits Association had entries from all over the Midwest including Illinois, Iowa, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan, Colorado, North Dakota, and Texas.
Huber Starlight Distillery won the "Best in State" whiskey category at The Heartland Whiskey Competition, honored for its Starlight Distillery Single Barrel Bourbon Whiskey.
“We couldn’t be happier with the feedback and medals Old Hamer received in its first two competitions. When we first brought back this historic Indiana whiskey, we didn’t know how it would be received” said Co-Founder and President Blake Jones. “Our hope is that these awards are the first of many for this unique Indiana bourbon.”
