Elwood Requests $1M for Robotics Center
A proposed robotics program in Elwood hopes to receive additional funding in August. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report attorney Michael Farrer requested the $1 million in economic development revenues from a wind farm project in Madison County be allocated to the robotics training program at the Hinds Career Center.
The Internal Revenue Service in June approved Elwood Robotics Technology Inc. as a not-for-profit.
Farrer told the publication once the funds are received, the robotics program has instructors, equipment, instruction materials and facilities ready to begin training students immediately.
The first class in the robotics training program is slated to begin in the second semester of the 2019-2020 school year.
