During a ceremony today, Col. Michael Garlington relinquished command to Col. Stephen Dondero, who was previously assigned to the U.S. Naval War College in Rhode Island.
CAAA, the second-largest tenant at Naval Support Activity Crane, says Dondero will lead the installation, which specializes in conventional munitions support for the U.S. Army and Joint Force readiness.
Dondero succeeds Garlington, who is retiring after a nearly 30-year career. The change in command comes just over two years after Garlington assumed command of CAAA.
Work at the installation includes storage, quality control, shipment preparation, distribution, production and demilitarization. Crane Army also provides command oversight of Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, Letterkenny Munitions Center in Pennsylvania and Milan Army Ammunition in Tennessee.
