In a notice to the state, the company says it will lay off nearly 100 employees at the end of August.
The closure and layoffs are part of a consolidation plan first announced in May 2017. State Farm said then the Indy location, as well as one in West Lafayette, would be among 11 closures involving a total of 4,200 employees.
The majority of positions involved in the Indy closure are claim associates and specialists. The layoffs are set to take place August 31 and be permanent. State Farm says the entire facility will be closed as a result.
A time frame for the closure of the West Lafayette location has not been detailed. When the consolidation was first announced, State Farm said it would occur sometime in 2020.
