Council Postpones Abatement for Anderson Solar Project
A decision on a 10-year tax abatement for a solar farm in Anderson has been postponed until July. Our partners at The Herald Bulletin report the Madison County Council Tuesday delayed a request from Invenergy for the abatement on both real and personal property.
Councilman Pete Heuer, who tabled the request until the council’s next meeting, told the publication his decision to delay was to allow the community a chance to comment.
The Lone Oak Solar Farm project is a $100 million project that is expected to generate between 110 and 120 megawatts of electricity.
Representatives for the project told the publication that the 30-day delay for the tax abatement approval would not change the construction timeline, with the facility still slated to be in operation in 2023.
