The grant is comprised of charitable contributions that have been earmarked for addiction treatment or programs with the greatest need.
Columbus Regional Health is using the grant to develop an outpatient treatment program and center, which is slated to open mid-summer. Ascension Recovery Services is consulting on the center and program which will serve patients in Bartholomew County and surrounding counties.
This funding builds upon the more than $900,000 first offered by CRHF in 2015 to combat substance abuse. The initial funding formed the Healthy Communities Mental Health and Substance Abuse Action Team, which expanded to a community-wide response in 2017.
The grant is the single largest one-time grant provided by CRHF since its founding.
