With nearly 250 school and community sponsors, children 18 and younger across Indiana will be provided with free meals and snacks during the summer break.
The Summer Food Service Program is a federal nutrition program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture and administered by the Indiana Department of Education.
Last year, Hoosier sponsors provided 2.7 million meals across the state. Meal services take place at parks and community centers, schools, churches, neighborhoods and mobile feeding sites.
“Providing children access to wholesome and nutritious meals during the summer months is important to their wellbeing,” said Jennifer McCormick, State Superintendent of Public Instruction, in a news release. “I want to thank our sponsors for their dedication and support.”
