The nonprofit says staff and volunteers prepared and delivered 100,152 meals last month.
“This milestone is a testament to the powers of collaboration and service,” said Second Helpings CEO, Jennifer Vigran. “Thanks to the commitment of more than 750 active volunteers and our strong network of partner agencies, Second Helpings continues to grow at a pace that would have seemed impossible when this work began 21 years ago.”
The organization has rescued over 32 million pounds of food from restaurants, grocery stores, hotels and wholesalers since 1998. The rescued food is prepared into meals and taken to over 90 different agencies. Second Helpings has cooked and delivered nearly 13 million meals in the last 21 years, with April being the first time in its history that the organization prepared and delivered more than 100,000 meals in a month.
