Colts Facility to Install Solar Panels
North Carolina-based solar energy provider POWERHOME Solar has been cleared to start installing solar panels at the Indianapolis Colts’ headquarters and practice facility. The new solar panels, which the company says will be functional in the coming months, aim to improve the Indiana Farm Bureau Football Center’s environmental impact and lower its energy costs.
POWERHOME Solar says it entered the Indiana market this year. The Colts mark the fifth NFL franchise to use the company for renewable energy.
"The Colts are committed to decreasing our energy use and becoming more sustainable throughout the organization," said Pete Ward, Colts chief operating officer, in a news release. "In addition to making our facility ‘greener,’ operating in a sustainable manner by using technology such as solar panels makes good business sense. Facilities that are more environmentally focused become more financially sound."
