Emmy Winner Joins Ball State Faculty
Ball State University has added a new Emmy Award-winning musical director to the Department of Theatre and Dance. Michael Rafter will join Ball States faculty for the Fall semester.
Succeeding Beth Turcotte, who retired on May 3, Rafter will step into the role of associate professor of musical theatre.
Rafter is a music supervisor, conductor and musician known for his work on Broadway. He has also had many well-received collaborations with Tony Award winner Sutton Foster, who also is an instructor in the university’s Department of Theatre and Dance.
“It is an honor to bring Michael’s talent to campus,” said William Jenkins, department chair. “Michael is truly a musical genius and our students will be able to learn from the breadth of experience. It is our goal to provide our students with awe-inspiring mentors, and Michael fits the bill.”
