The order for 739 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles is part of the National Guard’s modernization valued at $89 million. The new order is in addition to a 2018 request to build 740 of the vehicles.
"AM General is excited to continue the strong partnership with the Army National Guard and supports their efforts to modernize and enhance the readiness of the Humvee fleet," said Chris Vanslager, Executive Vice President, U.S. Defense.
The single-cab variant includes Integrated Armor Protection and can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle, and can be transported by land, sea or air. Enhancements on the new models include a better powertrain, suspension, cooling and electrical systems. Delivery of the new order is expected to begin in the third quarter of this year.
