Why HR Should Embrace AI

With the increased introduction of artificial intelligence, many companies worry about its long-term effects. Although AI has been adopted by many industries, the common fear remains: Will AI eventually take over our jobs?

Contrary to this belief, AI can be extremely beneficial in helping humans improve productivity at work,make their day-to-day tasks easier and allow more time for creative tasks only humans can perform. One department that can especially benefit from jumping on the AI bandwagon is human resources. A recent study found that AI is able to free up valuable time for HR professionals and improve their overall recruiting efforts by 42 percent. Below are some more reasons why HR professionals should embrace AI.

Streamlined candidate selection

For HR recruiters who spend the majority of their time scouring the internet for impressive resumes, it can be difficult to find qualified candidates especially given the current job market and quantity of job posting sites available. AI technologies can help filter through resumes using specific keywords that are pulled directly from the job description to find the best and most qualified candidates for open positions. Sourcing resumes can be a tedious and time-consuming task. By utilizing AI, well-suited candidates are presented first which helps speed up the process while still supplying HR professionals with the most qualified candidates.

Organized compliance regulations

Compliance regulations have become somewhat burdensome for many small to medium-sized businesses. For an HR department, especially, compliance regulations can end up spiraling out of control due to multiple deadlines and various requirements that pertain to every aspect of a business. Most HR departments are now equipped with an AI automated HRIS system. This system automatically notifies the department of upcoming submission dates and deadlines for paperwork. So, next time overtime rules and FMLA dates roll around, everyone is prepared to meet the necessary requirements. With the help of AI, HR departments no longer have to worry about missing a deadline.

Fewer administrative tasks

The recruiting and hiring process is often filled with repetitive tasks such as searching for resumes, scheduling interviews and providing feedback to candidates. Since HR professionals are likely inundated with these administrative tasks, AI can help free up about 14 hours a week, allowing recruiters and HR managers to focus on tasks such as talking to top talent and establishing training programs to help with retention. 

Improve the human experience

With the help of AI, the human experience can also be improved. Though it seems contradictory, AI combined with human touch can create more high-value interactions between a business and their prospective employees, candidates, clients, etc. By increasing the speed of service and implementing more efficient processes, HR professionals and company executives have more time to build meaningful conversations which in turn, build impactful relationships.

It is important for HR professionals to understand the impact AI can have on the industry. From helping to source qualified resumes and scheduling interviews to ensuring compliance and helping improve relationships with fellow employees, the positives far outweigh any negatives.

      I-65 Construction Update

      Construction work is scheduled to start next week on I-65 near downtown Indianapolis. Indiana Department of Transportation crews will begin to clean up the interstates after two years of freeze/thaw cycles. Crews will be working in segments, including patching and repaving work. INDOT crews will begin work in earnest on northbound and southbound in segments, beginning on weekend nights from April 26 through August.

      Reid Health To Acquire Fayette Regional Health System

      Reid Health has entered into an agreement to acquire the assets of Fayette Regional Health System of Connersville. The announcement comes after Fayette Regional filed for protection under Chapter 11 in October 2018. Specific terms will be disclosed in the bankruptcy case and will include a $12.75M payment to the bankruptcy estate of Fayette. The deal requires bankruptcy and regulatory approval and is expected to be finalized in mid-July this year.
