Indianapolis-based tech networking platform Powderkeg says it has closed its first capital raise. The organization says it raised $900,000 in a round led by Indy-based Elevate Ventures and involving Stout Street Capital and former Salesforce Marketing Cloud Chief Executive Officer Scott McCorkle.

Powderkeg says the funding will boost access for its more than 10,000 members to tech companies, products and industry leaders.

"What we really want to focus on now is creating more access to more resources for professionals and company leaders," said Powderkeg CEO Matt Hunckler in a news release. "Tech companies between the coasts face similar challenges as those in Silicon Valley and New York, but how we solve those problems is way different, which is why coastal products haven’t solved them."

Powderkeg says its future plans include developing a talent-matching platform, launching an expanded round of the U.S. Tech Census beginning in Indianapolis and creating an "email digest" of tech news, focusing on companies between the coasts.
