As of the end of the challenge, donors gave over $65,000 to support classroom projects in Marion County.
As an extra bonus for winning the challenge, The DICK’S Sporting Goods Foundation donated $100,000 to support team sports project requests from teachers in Marion County.
The donation funded team sports projects that were already entered on nonprofit funding platform DonorsChoose.org, and will provide a 5x match that will bump up donations from citizen donors to new team sports projects, until the $100,000 donation is fully spent.
Indianapolis Public Schools is one of several school districts in Marion County that will benefit from the donation.
“We are very excited for the opportunity to provide much-needed sports equipment and supplies to our students,” said Aleesia Johnson, Indianapolis Public Schools Interim Superintendent in a news release. “We thank our teachers for going the extra mile for their students and the community for their support of these DonorsChoose.org projects and the important lessons being taught outside of the classroom.”
