Subscribe NowMinnesota-based KGP Telecommunications Inc. has detailed plans for a major workforce reduction at its facilities in Warsaw. In a notice to the state, the company says a "sudden decrease in business" has resulted in the decision to lay off 300 employees.
KGP says a large customer for Assemble Wire Test work indicated the business decrease earlier this month. The layoffs are expected to begin around April 17 with the majority of affected positions being manufacturing and assembly employees, as well as some office personnel.
The affected employees do not having bumping rights and are not represented by a union. However, the company says factors such as tenure, skill set, performance and attendance may be taken into consideration in determining which employees are let go. Additionally, KGP says if the work returns to the company, the employees may be rehired.
KGP says the majority of the affected employees are at its Detroit Street facility, but it is unclear whether that location will need to close permanently.
