Ball State Sports Link to Produce Esports Event
Ball State Sports Link will tonight produce and broadcast the first esports tournament for broadcast in the university’s history. Sports Link and Cardinal Esports have partnered on the project, which will highlight a Rocket League Tournament featuring Ball State student-athletes and esports student organization players.
The group will host the Esports event, professional competitive gaming where competitors play video games, while being watched by a live audience.
The students will run a three-game regular season kick-off, followed by a bracket tournament, with every match produced by students in Sports Link and streaming live on Sports Link’s Facebook page.
“I’m most excited to work with both student-athletes and the Esports athletes and help create something that hasn’t been done before on campus,” Ball State senior Sam Ahrens said in a news release. “I want to help establish a relationship between student-athletes and Esports athletes that can be carried forward into upcoming years.”
