The Journal & Courier reports a fund started in Tyler Trent’s name has raised more than $1 million for the Purdue University Center for Cancer Research.
Trent passed away on New Year’s Day at the age of 20 after a lengthy fight with bone cancer. Timothy Ratliff, director of the Purdue Center for Cancer Research, says more than 1,500 people have donated more than $500,000, which was matched by the Walther Cancer Foundation.
"He was a constant source of inspiration to the board and really reached out to the community," Ratliff told the publication. "He really touched the nation in trying to advocate for supporting cancer research and defeating this disease."
Trent became the first undergraduate to serve on the director’s advancement board for the center in 2017. You can read more in the Journal & Courier by clicking here.
